A long standing issue on our website is that our “ethical lady” banner image is perhaps a bit dull:
Does anyone have any thoughts for making it a bit more exciting and attractive? I’m a bit at loss at finding a good visually interesting way of incorporating our logo in a manner that would breathe the open and welcoming spirit of our crew.November 8, 2016 at 4:30 pm #2711mathilyaParticipant
My art classes teacher would be proud of me…
Ethical lady looks fine for me, I was thinking about some transparent images on that large field of green squares. Crew full name in the background might be a bit pompous so maybe we can discretly fit some picutres from events. But, if you still want to make ethical lady more visible, maybe make her shine lightly or create a little glow (not gloves that are worn on arms…) around her. I don’t see a point in sharpening her makeup, as it can make her look slighlty exaggerated.
These tricks I mentioned above can be a bit cheap and non-original but still, might at least refresh that banner image.November 8, 2016 at 11:21 pm #2713
if i find some time and mood i will try to make something 😉November 9, 2016 at 6:05 pm #2717
Thanks both for the feedback – yeah a crew picture would be perfect. We have quite a lot of material already so maybe we can use something that we already have. I’ll try to make a selection and share it here in the next week. 83, I know you have a great artistic eye (your amazing feedback on the logo is fondly remembered!) so your input here would be great too, much appreciated!November 9, 2016 at 10:43 pm #2724
thanks. i got some idea. can you give me the crew logo in some good resolution or in vectors? BW version will be better for my use.
you can send it as attachment directly to my email: email@example.comNovember 10, 2016 at 8:47 pm #2728
Sure. Took a bit of effort to get a proper svg exported from the emblem editor, but eventually I got it to work using https://github.com/SVG-Edit/svgedit to clean up the svg so it would actually import into gimp and inkscape. Here are the files (both b/w and colour versions) for anyone who wants to have a stab:November 13, 2016 at 11:11 am #2750November 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm #2753
Absolutely beautiful! Love it!! I like the texture and the dynamic feel of it. There’s also a nice seductive feel to it. It also makes sense to move the logo to the right side as the text will otherwise cover it (as the current one does). Great job, many thanks for putting this together. The only thing I might say is that it does feel just a slightly bit too “cold”, not sure what to do about that, but I’d be happy to go with it, given that it is much much better than the one we currently have.
Anyone else cares to share their constructive opinion on 83’s design?November 13, 2016 at 2:09 pm #2755
Just replaced the old with the new to test it out, and oh my god, I’m sold. I take back that it looks too cold – when seen with the rest of the site it’s just perfect!!November 13, 2016 at 4:12 pm #2757mathilyaParticipant
